La présente invention décrit en particulier un système de détermination de propriétés du mouvement d'un véhicule guidé le long d'un canton adapté à une commande de signalisation de voies, caractérisé en ce que le véhicule comprend au moins quatre transpondeurs embarqués, disposés par paires, les deux transpondeurs de chaque paire étant alignés parallèlement à l'axe longitudinal du véhicule, au moins une paire en aval et au moins une paire en amont du véhicule et délivrant des moyens d'identification distincts; au moins un lecteur de transpondeurs est placé au sol à chaque extrémité du canton; un calculateur au sol est en communication avec les lecteurs et détermine lors du passage d'au moins deux transpondeurs d'un véhicule un sens de marche et une orientation intrinsèque avant/arrière du véhicule par rapport à la voie.
