A process for removing water from solid material (10) using liquid-solid extraction and liquid-liquid extraction in an extraction system (100). Multiple solvents are used sequentially to replace the water with a first solvent, then replacing that solvent with a second solvent, etc., then eventually removing the last solvent from the solid materials. The solvents have progressively lower heats of vaporization, enthalphy of vaporization, boiling point or related property, so as to conserve use of thermal energy.

L'invention concerne un procédé destiné à enlever l'eau d'un matériau solide (10) par utilisation d'extraction liquide-solide et d'extraction liquide-liquide dans un système d'extraction (100). On utilise séquentiellement des solvants multiples afin de remplacer l'eau par un premier solvant, puis de remplacer ce solvant par un second solvant, etc., puis par enlèvement par la suite du dernier solvant du matériau solide. Les solvants possèdent une chaleur de vaporisation, une enthalpie de vaporisation, un point d'ébullition ou de propriété associée, de plus en plus faibles afin de conserver l'utilisation de l'énergie thermique.
