ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A programmable sequencer is disclosed in which a microcomputer is employed to selectively energize patterns of a plurality of relays in a programmed sequence of patterns or steps. The micro- computer is programmed by selecting a memory location to correspond to a predetermined desired sequence. A plurality of light emitting diodes are mounted on a front panel of the sequencer to correspond to the plurality of relays to be programmably energized. The light emitting diodes are sequentially and individually illuminated, each for a predetermined period of time, for each step of a sequence to be programmed. An operator selects one or more of the relays to be energized during the step being programmed (corresponding to the pattern) by mani- pulation of a switch during the time the relays corresponding light emitting diode is illuminated. After all of the light emitting diodes have been illuminated, a time interval is selected for the step being programmed. After all of the light emitting diodes have been illuminated and the time interval is selected, an advance button is pressed which transmits information corresponding to the desired step into the memory location selected and allows the repetition of the above steps until a program is completed. After the program or programs desired are programmed in the above fashion, the sequencer may be switched to a run mode and any one of the programs can be implemented.
