ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to the synchronization of a recording medium, such as an unsprocketed audio-tape, either having sound pre-recorded thereon or intended to have sound recorded thereon, which is to be transported absolutely in phase with the frames on motion picture film. Coded lines of alpha or beta particle absorbent material are printed onto the base side of the audio tape. The lines are utilized for producing pulses which are sensed in such a manner as to provide a signal which is utilized to provide synchronization.
