A system (10) for raising and lowering a liner (12) or a swimming pool (14) includes a plate (22) used to define a spill way (24) for providing fluid communication between an outside surface (26) of the liner (12) and an inside surface (16) of the pool (14). The liner (12) is detached from surface (16) of the pool in the region behind the plate (22) and reattached along upper edge (28) of the plate (22) using a conventional locking strip (20). Conduit (30) has a length (30') which extends along back face (32) of plate (22) below the upper edge (28). Holes (34) cut in the plate (22) provide communication with length (30'). Conduit (36) having a length (36') extends across the back face (32) near its lower edge (38) to provide air to the spill way (24). The length (36') is provided with a number of holes (40) for admitting air into the spill way (24). In order to lift the liner ( 12), air is directed through conduits (30, 30') to the outside surface (26) of liner (12). The air progressively lifts the liner up and away from the inside surface ( 16) displacing water held within the pool (14) to flow over upper edge (28) into the spill way (24) so that the water now lies beneath the outside surface (26). In this way the liner (12) is progressively raised to eventually lie above the level of the water. To return liner (12) to its lining position air is passed through conduits (30, 36) into spill way (24). As the air rises it carries water up the spill way (24) and over the upper edge (28) onto the inside surface of liner (l2) to sink the liner (12) back to its lining position.

Le revêtement (12) est isolé de la surface (16) de la piscine derrière la plaque (22) et fixé à nouveau le long du bord supérieur (28) de la plaque (22) au moyen d'une bande (20) classique de verrouillage. Plusieurs trous (40), qui sont ménagés sur la longueur, permettent à l'air de s'infiltrer dans le déversoir (24). En vue de soulever le revêtement (12), l'air est dirigé à travers des conduits (30, 30') vers la surface extérieure (26) du revêtement (12). L'air soulève progressivement le revêtement et l'éloigne de la surface intérieure (16), déplaçant ainsi l'eau contenue dans la piscine (14) qui va s'écouler par le bord supérieur (28) dans le déversoir (24) de manière à ce que l'eau soit au-dessous de la surface extérieure (26). Ainsi, le revêtement (12) est progressivement soulevé pour reposer finalement au-dessus du niveau de l'eau. Pour remettre le revêtement (12) dans sa position fonctionnelle, on fait passer de l'air dans les conduits (30, 36) en direction du déversoir (24). Au fur et à mesure que l'air s'élève, il transporte l'eau jusqu'au déversoir (24) et la fait passer au-dessus du bord supérieur (28) sur la surface intérieure du revêtement (12) pour faire descendre le revêtement (12) dans sa position fonctionnelle.
