A method for reducing interference to electronic devices caused by discontinuous transmission from a radio transmitter is disclosed and a transmitter which carries out such a method. In order to reduce such interference the transmitter continues to emit radiation at the same power level as when transmitting information, when no information needs to be-transmitted. When no information needs to be transmitted, the transmitter switches frequencies to another carrier frequency from the communication frequency so that other transmitters can transmit on the communication frequency when the transmitter is not transmitting information.
