ABSTRACT/ In a system used for stacking thin-walled preformed components (15), for example, sheet-metal pressings as used in automobile construction, the preformed components (15) that are delivered lying flat are held in a stacking station (17) one above the other between side profile grippers (18). A pivotting carrier (8) is mounted in a main frame (1) so as to be pivottable and movable both vertically and horizontally. The pivotting carrier (8) has profile grippers (10,11) that take over the preformed components (15) within the stacking station (17). The pivotting carrier (8) moves into a stack container (20). Here, the preformed components (15) are positioned in an ordered arrangement between lower locating rails (23) and spring- loaded raisable profile grippers (27) on the upper locating rails (25).
