-23- ABSTRACT: " A SYSTEM FOR THE CONTROL OF TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY WITHIN A GREENHOUSE" A system for the control of temperature and humidity in a greenhouse relies on a heat pump and various sensors for the measurement of temperature and relative humidity both inside and outside the greenhouse. Conditions inside and outside the greenhouse are analysed to fall within a particular class and the classes of weather conditions are matched to provide an appropriate control strategy for the greenhouse. The purpose of the invention is to provide for the optimisation of the extraction of useful heat by means of refrigerative de-humidification of the greenhouse and to utilise this heat to minimise the amount of supplementary heat required for the greenhouse, or as a heat source for other heating purposes. It is also the purpose of the invention to provide for the optimisation of the extraction of purified (distilled) water from water supplied to the plants. ARGH/BMS
