ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A system for the generation of electrical energy by utilizing the kinetic energy of seawater has a floating body with two floating supports connected by a lower platform, a main deck and a large impeller arranged between them and having a horizontal axis. The impeller axis carries vertical plate-like supports which divide the impeller vanes into several sectors. The rotary movement of the impeller is transmitted to a machine park located on the main deck for the generation of electrical energy. Despite its large dimensions the system according to the invention is distinguished by its high stability.
