ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE New service facilities in the form of central management, planning and rationalisation of the upkeep of lift installations are offered by this system. The system comprises a modularly constructed remote management system, which makes possible the management centrally, the inspection regionally and the monitoring of decentral processes locally of lift-technical installations. The management exchange (1) stands in connection by way of modem (2)/telephone network (4) with the regional exchanges (3) and has access to all relevant data. The region- al exchange (3) permits an inspection of all processes (11) of several buildings. Direct speech connections as far as the peripheral device let themselves be built up by means of remote alarm (S) from the regional exchange (3). For each building, the communications module (7) takes over the data traffic between the regional exchange (3) and the process- es (11) to be inspected in this building. The process data are detect- ed by the peripheral module (10) capable of diagnosis and processed further into relevant operational, fault and alarm reports with the aid of heuristic operating means. The peripheral module (10) reports with diagnostic data by way of the common building bus (9) at the communcations module (7), which transmits them further to the region- al exchange (3) by means of automatic telephone dialling.
