The present invention relates to a system for bidirectional transmission and reception of optical signals, said system incorporating at least one transmitter and at least one receiver, and an optical fibre for transmitting the optical signals. Provision is made such that the transmitter (20) and the receiver (18) are associated directly with an effective optical surfaces (26) of the optical fibre (14). (see fig.I)
