A meshed backplane has dedicated pairs of connections for high-speed serial connection in each direction between each of multiple application modules and each other application module. A management/control bus is provided for out-of- band signaling. The mesh of serial differential pairs may be used for management/control bus signals when necessary. A time division multiplexing fabric is also provided for telephony applications. A star interconnection region is provided for distribution of signals from redundant clocks.

L'invention concerne un panneau arrière maillé présentant une paire de connexions spécialisées permettant un branchement sériel à haut débit dans chaque direction, entre chaque module et les autres modules d'une série de modules d'application. Un bus de gestion/commande est utilisé à des fins de signalisation hors-bande. Les paires différentielles sérielles maillées peuvent être utilisées, si nécessaire, pour des signaux du bus de gestion/commande. Une structure de multiplexage temporel est également mise en place pour des applications de téléphonie.
