A thermal wellhead (23) having a high voltage cable for in-situ upgrading and processing unconventional oil reservoirs is disclosed. An electrical cable has a power umbilical with an electrical heater (21) on a lower end (25) and an electrical connector (27) opposite the heater (21). An upper portion (29) of the cable has a second electrical connector (31) for connection with the first connector (27) and is connected to a transformer (33). A well control device is installed at the wellhead (23) and the umbilical is extended through the device in the well (11). The first connector (27) is landed in the wellhead (23) such that the umbilical extends downward through the well (11). The well control device is then removed from the wellhead (23), and the second connector (31) is secured in a tubing bonnet (37). The bonnet (37) is landed on the wellhead (23) to make electrical connections between the connectors.
