A system, method, and computer program product for configuring a medical device (902). A personal data assistant (900) is used by a practitioner to gather patient information. Patient information is transferred to a server (907), and three optional medical devices are configured as a "good", "better", and "best" alternative. One of the proposed options is selected customized by the practitioner prior to ordering. Order status may be obtained online, and historical patient and order information is maintained. A catalog (917) of medical device components is also provided, the catalog items are either ordered "as is" or are customized through the customizer (912) prior to ordering (918).
La présente invention concerne un système, un procédé et un produit de programme informatique permettant de configurer un dispositif médical. Dans cette invention, un praticien utilise un assistant numérique personnel pour collecter des renseignements sur le patient. Les renseignements sur le patient sont transférés à un serveur et trois dispositifs médicaux optionnels sont configurés en tant que dispositifs classés comme 'bon'', 'meilleur'' et 'préféré/excellent''. Une des options proposées est sélectionnée par le praticien et adaptée spécifiquement aux besoins avant la passation de commande. L'état de la commande peut être obtenu en ligne et les antécédents médicaux du patient et les informations de commande sont conservés. Un catalogue de constituants de dispositifs médicaux est également présenté, les articles du catalogue pouvant être commandés 'tels quels'' ou bien 'sur mesure'' après avoir été adaptés aux besoins propres par un système d'adaptation, avant la passation de commande.
