A digitizer tablet computer has a host processor connected to a service processor which, in turn, is connected to a digitizer controller and to a power subsystem microcontroller whereby primary control of a keyboard, a digitizer, and a power subsystem is off loaded from the host processor to the service processor. The host processor communicates with the service processor through an interface comprising a status register, an input buffer and an output buffer through which host commands and data are transferred. The digitizer produces coordinate data that is initially processed in the service processor before being passed on to the host processor. The host processor is interrupted to receive the processed data and executes in a tight loop until a predetermined amount of processed data is received.

Un ordinateur doté d'un numériseur comporte un processeur hôte relié à un processeur de service, à son tour relié à un contrôleur de numérisation et à un micro-contrôleur de sous-système d'alimentation, le processeur hôte se déchargeant sur le processeur de service de la commande du clavier, du numériseur et du sous-système d'alimentation. Le processeur hôte communique avec le processeur de service à travers une interface comprenant un registre d'état, un tampon d'entrée et un tampon de sortie qui servent à l'échange des commandes et des données avec l'hôte. Le numériseur produit des coordonnées qui sont initialement traitées dans le processeur de service avant d'être transmises au processeur hôte. Ce dernier est interrompu pour recevoir les données traitées et tourne en boucle tant qu'une quantité prédéterminée de données traitées n'a pas été reçue.
