Systems and methods for locating the shooter of supersonic projectiles are described. The system uses at least five spaced acoustic sensors. Sensor signals are detected for shockwaves and optionally muzzle blast, wherein muzzle blast detection can be either incomplete coming from less than 4 sensor channels, or inconclusive due to lack of signal strenght. A genetic algorithm can be used to efficiently disambiguate the results.

L'invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés permettant de localiser un tireur de projectiles supersoniques. Le système de l'invention fait intervenir au moins cinq capteurs acoustiques espacés les uns par rapport aux autres. Des signaux des capteurs sont détectés pour des ondes de choc et éventuellement une détonation, la détection de détonation pouvant s'avérer soit incomplète si elle est obtenue par moins de 4 canaux de détection, soit non concluante en raison d'un manque d'intensité de signal. Un algorithme génétique peut être utilisé pour désambiguïser efficacement les résultats.
