A system for infusing a drug (10) under continuous positive pressure (such as convection enhanced deliver) to a target tissue (12) to be treated is particularly useful for post- resection anticancer drug therapy. The system comprises a drug infusion catheter (16) having an expandable device (28) which is expanded within the target tissue such that the target tissue conforms to an outer surface of the expandable device, thereby creating a form of seal around the target volume in order to maintain an effective drug pressure gradient within the target tissue. The system further comprises a sensor (50,52,54,56) to measure a parameter which can be correlated to the degree of conformance between the target tissue and the outer surface of the expandable device. The sensor is coupled to a feedback control system (22) to determine whether there is a loss of conformance, and to adjust the expansion of the expandable device in order to maintain good conformance.
L'invention concerne un système pour infuser un médicament (10) sous une pression positive continue (telle qu'une administration améliorée par convection) à un tissu cible (12) à traiter qui est particulièrement utile pour une thérapie médicamenteuse anti-cancer post-résection. Le système comprend un cathéter d'infusion de médicament (16) ayant un dispositif dilatable (28) qui se dilate à l'intérieur du tissu cible de telle sorte que le tissu cible se conforme à une surface externe du dispositif dilatable, créant ainsi une forme de joint autour du volume cible afin de maintenir un gradient de pression de médicament efficace dans le tissu cible. Le système comprend en outre un capteur (50, 52, 54, 56) pour mesurer un paramètre qui peut être corrélé au degré de performance entre le tissu cible et la surface externe du dispositif dilatable.
