Systems and methods for providing two-way communication between an exercise device (12a) and a computer device (14). A computer device (14) and an exercise device (12a) employ different protocol formats and communicate through a translator device (13), which includes a microcontroller specifically designed to translate data or signals deliverable by different communication protocols. The exercise device (12a), the computer device (14), or a user at either the exercise or computer device may initiate the communication. The enabled communication allows for such features as the performance of an automatic diagnostic analysis on the exercise device, the programming of internal parameters of the exercise device upon identifying specific components, the monitoring of any measurable parameter of the user, the providing of instructional direction and/or encouragement relating to a particular exercise routine, the controlling of the amount of resistance experienced by the user of the exercise device, and other interactions facilitated by the translator device.
L'invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés permettant d'établir une communication bidirectionnelle entre un dispositif d'exercice (12a) et un dispositif informatique (14). Lesdits dispositifs informatique (14) et d'exercice (12a) utilisent différents formats de protocole et communiquent par l'intermédiaire d'un dispositif traducteur (13) qui comprend un microcontrôleur spécifiquement conçu pour traduire des données ou des signaux pouvant être distribués par différents protocoles de communication. Les dispositifs informatique (14) et d'exercice (12a) ou un utilisateur au niveau de l'un ou l'autre de ces dispositifs peuvent lancer la communication. L'établissement de la communication rend possible une analyse automatique de diagnostic sur le dispositif d'exercice, la programmation de paramètres internes du dispositif d'exercice lors de l'identification de composants spécifiques, la surveillance d'un paramètre quelconque mesurable de l'utilisateur, la fourniture d'une orientation et/ou d'un encouragement pédagogique concernant une routine d'exercice particulière, la régulation de la quantité de résistance rencontrée par l'utilisateur du dispositif d'exercice et d'autres interactions facilitées par le dispositif de traduction.
