A multi-dimensional data enhancement system uses large kernel filtering, decimation, and interpolation, in multi-dimensions to enhance the multi- dimensional data in real-time (2). The multi-dimensional data enhancement system is capable of performing large kernel processing in real-time because the required processing overhead is significantly reduced (7). The reduction in processing overhead is achieved through the use of substantial low pass filtering and decimation that significantly reduces the amount of data that needs to be processed in order to generate an un-sharp mask comprising only very low spatial frequencies (9), that can be used to further process the data in a more natural way than is normally achieved with conventional edge sharpening.
Un système d'amélioration de données multidimensionnelles utilise un grand filtrage en noyau, une décimation, et une interpolation, en dimensions multiples, pour améliorer en temps réel les données multidimensionnelles. Ce système d'amélioration des données multidimensionnelles est capable d'effectuer en temps réel de grands traitements en noyau parce que le surcroît de traitement demandé est réduit de façon importante. On aboutit à cette réduction du surcroît de traitement grâce à un filtrage passe-bas et une décimation réduisant de façon importante le volume de données à traiter pour générer un masque de perte de netteté ne comprenant que de très basses fréquences spatiales, masque utilisable pour poursuivre le traitement des données d'une façon plus naturelle que ce qui se fait normalement avec l'augmentation conventionnelle de netteté des contours.
