Methods and systems that provide enhanced personal video recorder ("PVR") and interactive television program guide ("IPG") functionality are provided. An interactive television application ("application") may be implemented to provide such functionality. The application may be used to display a list of a PVR recordings, to schedule recordings to a PVR, to configure recordings, to view a list of scheduled recording, to configure recording settings, or to select delete priority settings for recordings. The application may integrate pay-per-view and PVR functionality. The application may send user notifications for changes that are to be made to the recording content of a PVR. Live programming may be buffered by the application using a straight buffers that are created for each new program. Parallel buffers for concurrent programs may be implemented using multiple tuners. Straight buffers may be used in managing or controlling the flow of programming. Television content may be automatically paused when a user is engaged in using the application. Multiple IPGs for different users of a PVR may be implemented. Other PVR related features are also provided.

Une application interactive de télévision peut être implantée pour fournir cette fonctionnalité. L'application peut servir à afficher une liste d'enregistrements de RVP, pour programmer des enregistrements sur un RVP, pour configurer des enregistrements, pour visualiser une liste d'enregistrements programmés, pour configurer des paramètres d'enregistrement ou pour sélectionner des paramètres de priorité de suppression d'enregistrements. L'application peut intégrer une fonctionnalité de paiement à la carte et de RVP. Elle peut envoyer à l'usager des notifications de changements devant être apportés au contenu enregistré d'un RVP. Une programmation en direct peut être mise en mémoire tampon par ladite application, à l'aide de tampons directs qui sont produits pour chaque nouveau programme. Des tampons parallèles pour émissions simultanées peuvent être mis en oeuvre au moyen de syntoniseurs multiples. Des tampons directs peuvent servir à gérer ou à réguler le flux de programmation. Le contenu télévisé peut être automatiquement interrompu lorsqu'un usager utilise l'application. De multiples guides interactifs d'émissions télévisées pour différents usagers d'un RVP peuvent être installés. D'autres caractéristiques de RVP sont également prévues.
