A discrete cosine transform (DCT)-based orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) system is provided with a zero-padding guard interval and MMSE reception. The performance of the DCT-OFDM system with the zero-padding guard interval scheme and the minimum mean-square error (MMSE) receiver over time-varying multipath Rayleigh fading channels is investigated. The results show that employing the proposed DCT-OFDM system rather than the conventional DFT-OFDM system can provide better bit error rate performance in practical systems, by as much as 6 dB in signal-to-noise ratio.

La présente invention concerne un système à multiplexage par répartition orthogonale de la fréquence (MROF) fondé sur une transformée en cosinus discrète (DCT), lequel système est pourvu d'une réception MMSE et à intervalle de sécurité à tampon zéro. Cette invention concerne également le rendement du système DCT-MROF pourvu d'un mécanisme à intervalle de sécurité à tampon zéro et d'un récepteur à erreur quadratique moyenne minimale (MMSE) sur des canaux à évanouissement de Rayleigh dû à la propagation par trajets multiples variables dans le temps. Les résultats permettent de montrer que le système décrit dans cette invention permet d'obtenir un meilleur rendement du taux d'erreur binaire dans des systèmes pratiques, de l'ordre de 6 dB en termes de rapport signal-sur-bruit.
