ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An information signal recording system comprising means for separating a color video signal into a luminance signal and a carrier chrominance signal, means for frequency converting the separated carrier chrominance signal to a lower frequency band, a first frequency modulating means for frequency modulating a carrier with at least one audio signal, means for mixing the separated luminance signal, the frequency converted carrier output signal of the second frequency modulating means as a main information signal on a main information signal track of a record- ing medium. A system for reproducing the recording medium recorded by the recording system, comprising means for reproducing the recorded main information signal from the recording medium, a first demodulating means for frequency demodulating the reproduced main information signal, means for separating the output signal of the first demodulating means into the luminance signal and the frequency converted carrier chrominance signal, means for frequency converting the frequency converted carrier chrominance signal thus separated to the original frequency, means for mixing the carrier chrominance signal thus frequency converted to the original frequency and the separated luminance signal thereby obtaining a reproduced color video signal, means for separating the frequency modulated audio signal from the output signal of the first demodulating means, and a second demodulating means for the frequency modulated audio signal from the output signal of the first demodulating means, and a second demodulating means for frequency demodulating the frequency modulated audio signal thus separated.
