The system (10, 12) comprises a remote monitoring means (12) for receiving operation related information from the mail processing device (10) over a communications network. The remote monitoring means (10) enables the user to A) monitor the status of the mail processing system (10), B) define the mail job, and C) define the threshold/setpoints for a mail processing system (10). This information, which defines the mail processing job, is then sent to the mail processing system (10) over the network.
