Disclosed are a method, apparatus, system, and computer readable media containing instructions for preparing and displaying a plurality of audio-visual signals in a digital video distribution system (e.g., IPTV), which enables fast channel switching between channels. The system includes a server which sends a plurality of audio -visual signals coded in a base layer and enhancement layer format to an endpoint. The endpoint receives and decodes the base layer of a first channel, at least one second base layer of a second channel, and at least one enhancement layer of the first channel, and displays them on a video display.

La présente invention concerne un procédé, un appareil, un système, et un support informatique contenant des instructions permettant de préparer et d'afficher une pluralité de signaux audiovisuels dans un système numérique de distribution vidéo tel que la télévision par Internet, et donc de commuter rapidement d'un canal à un autre. Le système comporte un serveur qui envoie à un point extrémité une pluralité de signaux audiovisuels codés dans un format de couche de base et dans un format de couche enrichie. Le point extrémité reçoit et décode la couche de base du premier canal, au moins une deuxième couche de base d'un deuxième canal, et au moins une couche enrichie du premier canal, puis les affiche sur un écran vidéo.
