A system and method for accessing content on an electronic device in an encrypted mode, a decrypted mode or a default mode. A request is transmitted to an application program interface to permit a requesting program to access at least one file. The request specifically identifies whether the requesting program wishes to access the file in an encrypted mode, a decrypted mode or a default mode. It is determined whether the specific form is supported by the application program interface being used by the system, whether the at least one file is protected; and whether the requesting program is permitted to access the at least one file. If the specific form is supported by the application :)n program interface, if the at least one file is protected, and if the requesting program is permitted to access the at least one file, the at least one file is opened in the specific form for use by the requesting program.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé permettant d'accéder à du contenu sur un dispositif électronique selon un mode chiffré, un mode déchiffré ou le mode par défaut. Le procédé comporte les étapes consistant à: transmettre une demande à une interface de programme d'application pour permettre à un programme demandeur d'accéder à au moins un fichier, la demande indiquant spécifiquement si le programme demandeur veut accéder au fichier selon un mode chiffré, un mode déchiffré ou le mode par défaut; déterminer si la forme spécifique est acceptée par l'interface du programme d'application utilisée par le système, si le(s) fichier(s) est/sont protégé(s) et si le programme demandeur est autorisé à accéder au(x) fichier(s). Si la forme spécifique est acceptée par l'interface du programme d'application, si le(s) fichier(s) est/sont protégé(s) et si le programme demandeur est autorisé à accéder au(x) fichier(s), le(s) fichier(s) est/sont ouvert(s) dans la forme spécifique en vue d'être utilisé(s) par le programme demandeur.
