ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A television receiver for reproducing a picture of a television signal or an external video signal, selectively, having a television tuner using a signal controlled reactance device as a tuning element, a video detector coupled to said television tuner and producing a television video signal at a television video signal output terminal, a channel selector having a plurality of channel selecting switches and supplying a tuning signal corre- sponding to a selected channel to said signal controlled reactance device of said television tuner, an external video signal input terminal, a gate circuit selecting one video signal from said tele- vision video signal input terminal or said external video signal input terminal, a set-reset type flip-flop circuit controlling said gate circuit, a set signal generating switch setting said flip-flop circuit for an external video signal mode, a reset signal generating circuit connected to said channel selecting switches and resetting said flip-flop circuit for a television video signal mode.
