ABSTRACT Microparticles of proteins, polysaccharide or polyvinylpyrrolidone encoded by predetermined amounts of physiologically acceptable ions such as sodium, calcium and phosphorus are used for tagging medicaments. The source of any tagged medicament can be later identified by isolating and analyzing one of the microparticles.
