The present invention relates to a tailbone cushion to eliminate discomfort of patients afflicted with hemorrhoids, fissure, damaged coccyges (tailbone) or the like associated with sitting on hard surfaces. The tail bone cushion of the present invention consists of a cushion section having front, rear and side edges and generally flat top and bottom surfaces. The cushion section has a cutout centrally disposed in the rear edge providing said cushion section with a U-shaped configuration. The cutout is sized and located to eliminate contact between the p[patient's tailbone and either the cushion or the surface underneath the cushion. The cushion section is preferably tapered in thickness and firmness from rear to front. The cushion section is also preferably formed from a casing filled with a material that has low compression under a patient's body weight yet soft enough to permit sitting for extended periods with minimal discomfort. The tail bone cushion is optionally provided with a back support. The back support has top, bottom and side edges and generally flat front and rear surfaces. The back support is preferably detachably connected to the cushion section. by a hinged connection between the rear edge of the cushion section and the bottom edge of the back support to permit the tailbone cushion to be folded flat for storage or transport and opened for use. Means may be provided with said back support to provide a lumbar support preferably a hot pack. The means can include a sleeve or pouch located on the front surface of said back support.
La présente invention consiste en un coussin pour le coccyx éliminant l'inconfort des personnes souffrant des hémorroïdes, d'une fissure ou d'un dommage du coccyx, ou causé par le fait de s'asseoir sur une surface dure. Le coussin comporte une section constituée de côtés avant, arrière et latéraux ainsi que d'un haut et d'un bas à surface plate. La partie coussinée présente une ouverture centrale en forme de U, à l'arrière. La taille et l'emplacement de cette ouverture éliminent le contact entre le coccyx et le coussin ou la surface sous le coussin. L'épaisseur et la fermeté du coussin sont graduelles de l'avant vers l'arrière. Le coussin a également une enveloppe bourrée d'un matériau peu compressible sous le poids du corps, mais tout de même assez pour permettre de rester assis longtemps confortablement. Pour ceux qui le désirent, le coussin peut-être muni d'un dossier constitué d'un haut, d'un bas et de côtés ainsi que d'un avant et d'un arrière plats. Le dossier est amovible et relié au coussin par une articulation, entre l'arrière du coussin et le bas du dossier, qui permet de replier le coussin pour le ranger ou le transporter ou de l'ouvrir pour l'utiliser. Le dossier peut également être muni d'un support lombaire, de préférence un thermosac, pouvant avoir une pochette ou un sac fixé à l'avant du dossier.
