A tail flag assembly for installation on a rear end of an utility pole laid on a pole trailer. The tail flag assembly comprises a ring mountable over the rear end of the pole and a plurality of screws extending radially through the ring for clamping the ring onto the rear end of the pole. The tail flag assembly also comprises a plurality of staffs affixed to the ring and extending outwardly tangentially from the ring, with each staff having a rectangular brightly coloured flag affixed thereto. In one aspect of the invention, each flag has a stripe sewn thereon. The stripe is made of a highly light-reflecting material The stripe is sewn on a first side of the flag from an upper outside comer thereof to a midpoint on the hem thereof, and on the other side of the flag, from a midpoint on the hem to the lower outside comer thereof. When the flag flaps back and forth, the movement of the stripe simulates a flashing light bar when seen at night under the reflection of the headlights of a vehicle for example. In another aspect of the invention, each staff is made of a flexible material and is pliable for engagement under the crossbar handle of one of the screws. Hence, when all staffs are bent and engaged under a respective crossbar handle, the tail flag assembly is compact in size and easily stowed in a tool compartment of an utility truck.
La présente invention a pour objet un ensemble de fanion de signalisation pour montage à l'extrémité arrière d'un poteau de ligne chargé sur une semi-remorque à poutre télescopique. L'ensemble de fanion de sécurité comporte une virole destinée à être glissée sur l'extrémité arrière du poteau, une pluralité de vis à orientation radiale à travers la virole permettant de fixer celle-ci à la circonférence de l'extrémité du poteau. L'ensemble en question comporte en outre une pluralité d'éléments de support fixés à la virole et en prolongement tangentiel vers l'extérieur par rapport à la virole, chacun des éléments en question supportant un fanion rectangulaire de couleur vive. Dans une des versions de l'invention, une bande de tissu est cousue sur chacun des fanions. Cette bande est fabriquée d'un matériau à haute réflectivité lumineuse. La bande en question est cousue sur une première face du fanion, allant du coin supérieur extérieur de la surface jusqu'au centre d'un ourlet cousu le long d'un bord opposé; sur l'autre côté du fanion, la bande va du centre de l'ourlet jusqu'au coin inférieur extérieur de la surface du fanion. Lorsque le fanion bat au vent, le mouvement de la bande simule le clignotement d'une barre de signalisation sous le balayage des phares d'un véhicule en conditions nocturnes. Dans une autre version de l'invention, chacun des éléments de support est fait d'un matériau flexible et peut être fixé sous la traverse d'arrimage de l'une des vis. Ainsi, lorsque tous les éléments de support sont repliés et passés sous la barre d'arrimage de chacune des vis respectives, l'ensemble de fanion est de dimensions compactes et peut être facilement remisé dans le compartiment de rangement d'un diable.
