ABSTRACT An extension unit for installation on a truck box having spaced side walls and a floor includes a rectangular tailboard adapted to be pivotally mounted at the rear end of the floor along one long side of the tail- board and an end panel pivotally connected to the other long side of the tailboard. Two double hinges connect the end panel to the tailboard with each hinge comprising two spaced-apart parallel pivot pins and a connecting plate joining these pins. Two side panels are each pivotally connected to a respective side edge of the end panel. These can be swung from a storage position adjacent the end panel to a box extension position perpendicular to the end panel. Preferably connecting devices are provided to attach each side panel to a respective side wall of the truck box.
