A talking trading card playing system consists of a portable card player and a plurality of trading cards. Each card includes a card body having front and back surfaces, flexible sheets affixed to the front surface and to the back surface of the housing, and a voice chip for storing and generating sound patterns. The portable player comprises a power source located in the housing for supplying electrical power to the voice chip, and sound generation components. The subject trading card and player may be activited by inserting the card into the player, thereby establishing electrical contact between the card and the player.

L'invention concerne un système d'animation de carte de collection du commerce qui comprend une unité d'animation portable et une pluralité de cartes de collection. Chaque carte comporte un corps sous la forme d'un mince boîtier ayant une face avant et une face arrière qui porte des feuilles souples, et renfermant par ailleurs une puce vocale qui mémorise et produit des combinaisons de sons. L'unité portable comprend elle aussi un boîtier à l'intérieur duquel se trouve une source d'alimentation qui permet de mettre sous tension la puce vocale et un système pour la production des sons. On peut animer les cartes de collection en les insérant dans l'unité d'animation, ce qui a pour effet d'établir un contact électrique entre la carte introduite et l'unité proprement dite.
