A tamper evident label is provided for securing objects such as shipping packages or the like. The label, which is applicable on the closure of the object, leaves a warning message on the object if it is removed therefrom, even if the label is first frozen or heated. The tamper evident label includes successively a flexible film top layer; a release agent layer forming a predetermined pattern defining a first tamper evident message; a first ink layer with ink releasable upon removal of the label from the object; a second ink layer defining a second tamper evident message with irreversible thermochromic ink; an adhesive layer resistant to freezing temperature conditions; and a removable liner. A process for making such a label is also provided.
