ABSTRACT TAMPER-EVIDENT LID WITH TEAR-AWAY RING Disclosed is a tamper-evident lid adapted to be used with a container, and to the package of the lid and container. The lid comprises a continuous surface adapted to cover the mouth of the container, the lid having downwardly projecting portions adapted to surround the outside of the mouth of the container. A continuous ring is affixed to the downwardly projecting portions, the ring adapted to encircle the mouth of the container. A tamper-evident assembly is frangibly affixed to the ring, the tamper-evident assembly comprising a hook member adapted to engage the container. The downwardly projecting portions have an opening in the area of the tamper-evident assembly in order to provide visual observation of the tamper-evident assembly.
