A tamper-evident cap and overcap including a cap (12) with an upstanding cap portion and a lower base (22), the base defining a circumferential channel (20). An overcap (14) is positioned to enclose the upstanding cap portion, with the overcap carrying a circumferential projection of skirt (18) permanently retained in the circumfererential channel, typically by force-fit. A frangible line of weakness (16) permits separation of the overcap and the circumferential projection. At least the circumferential projection, and typically also the overcap, are of a color that contrasts with the color of the cap, so that, upon removal of the cap, the remaining edge (26) of the circumferential projection gives an indication that the overcap has been removed.

L'invention a trait à un couvercle inviolable ainsi qu'à un couvercle coiffant comportant un couvercle (12) proprement dit constitué d'un élément de couvercle montant et d'une assise (22), celle-ci délimitant un canal circonférentiel (20). Le couvercle coiffant (14) est disposé de manière à enserrer l'élément de couvercle montant, ce couvercle coiffant étant pourvu d'une projection circonférentielle ou jupe (18) assujettie à demeure dans le canal circonférentiel, emmanchée généralement. Une ligne sécable de faiblesse (16) autorise la séparation du couvercle coiffant et de la projection circonférentielle. Cette dernière, au moins, et également, d'une manière générale, le couvercle coiffant, sont porteurs d'une couleur contrastant avec celle du couvercle, de sorte qu'une fois le couvercle retiré, le bord restant (26) de la projection circonférentielle indique que le couvercle coiffant a été ôté.
