A bait station for containing rat poison contains a housing (12, 13); at least one opening (15) in the housing for a rat to enter; and a bait position (16) in the housing for locating poisoned bait. A divider (18) is provided between the bait position (16) and each opening (15) to prevent direct access to the bait from the opening, for example by a child. However, there are at least two different routes from the bait position (16) leading to openings (15). Research has shown that rats, unlike mice, prefer not to eat in a confined space and it is believed that the choice of escape routes offered by the bait station of the invention encourages a rat to eat more of the bait. The bait station may include a hinged lid (13) with locking means (24, 25) to prevent tampering with the bait. I
L'invention concerne un point d'appât destiné à contenir un raticide. Ce point d'appât comprend: un boîtier (12, 13); au moins un orifice (15) ménagé sur ce boîtier afin de permettre à un rat d'y pénétrer; et une zone appât (16), disposée dans ledit boîtier de manière à pouvoir localiser un appât empoisonné. Une cloison (18) sépare cette zone appât (16) de chacun des orifices (15), afin de prévenir tout accès direct à l'appât par l'un de ces orifices, notamment par un enfant. Il existe néanmoins deux trajets possibles de la zone appât (16) audits orifices (15). Il a en effet été démontré que les rats, contrairement aux souris, n'aiment pas manger dans un espace confiné: le choix de trajets menant à la sortie qu'offre le point d'appât de cette invention pousse donc un rat à manger davantage de l'appât. Ce point d'appât peut en outre comprendre un couvercle articulé (13), pourvu d'organes de verrouillage (24, 25) destinés à prévenir toute manipulation abusive de l'appât.
