The printing of postage indicia and postage stamps wherein a portion of the ink used to print the indicia and/or stamps has the characteristic of changing color when exposed to moisture. By having an indicia that changes color upon such exposure, one is able to determine if an attempt has been made to defraud the postal service by removing a tape upon which a postage indicia is printed from a mail piece and using the same on a second mail piece.
