The present invention relates to a tampon suitable for feminine hygiene and/or medical purposes having a longitudinal body provided with a dome-shaped insertion end and a withdrawal end, from which withdrawal end a withdrawal cord extends, whereby the tampon essentially consists of compressed absorbent fibrous material and has an outer circumferential surface which is at least partially provided with longitudinal grooves that are separated from each other by longitudinal ribs. The tampon is in particular characterised in that the path of said grooves and said ribs in the longitudinal direction of said tampon corresponds to a continuous curved line that has only one point of inflection defining one convex part and one concave part, and that preferably does not show a maximum and/or a minimum.

La présente invention concerne un tampon convenant pour l'hygiène féminine et/ou à des fins médicales, lequel a un corps longitudinal pourvu d'une extrémité d'insertion en forme de dôme et d'une extrémité de retrait, de laquelle extrémité de retrait sort un cordon de retrait, le tampon étant essentiellement constitué d'une matière fibreuse absorbante comprimée et ayant une surface périphérique extérieure qui est au moins en partie pourvue de rainures longitudinales qui sont séparées les unes des autres par des nervures longitudinales. Le tampon est en particulier caractérisé en ce que le cheminement desdites rainures et desdites nervures dans la direction longitudinale dudit tampon correspond à une ligne courbe continue qui a un seul point d'inflexion définissant une partie convexe et une partie concave et qui de préférence ne présente pas un maximum et/ou un minimum.
