ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In an anti-skid system for a vehicle having a tandem axle unit, a portion of the vehicle load is transferred to one of the axles during braking. There is a sensor for the rotational velocity of the other axle which generates a control signal if a skid condition is sensed at the said other axle. This control signal modulates the brakes a the wheel attached to the said other axle so as to avoid skidding.
