A fan assembly. The fan assembly comprises: a fan having an axis and an outer periphery; a housing about the fan; and a cutoff separating fan inflow from fan outflow. The cutoff is preferably arranged parallel to the axis and is proximal to the outer periphery. The cutoff includes first and second layers. The first layer provides structural support and has a plurality of apertures therethrough. The second layer is formed of an acoustically insulating material. The cutoff also includes a "patterned" leading edge such as a "sawtooth" leading edge.
La présente invention se rapporte à un ensemble ventilateur comprenant un ventilateur pourvu d'un axe et d'une périphérie extérieure, une enveloppe entourant le ventilateur et un atténuateur acoustique (100) séparant l'admission du ventilateur de sa sortie. Ledit atténuateur est de préférence disposé de manière parallèle par rapport à l'axe, à proximité de la périphérie extérieure. L'atténuateur comprend une première (108) et une seconde (102) couches. La première couche (108) constitue un support structurel et est pourvue d'une pluralité d'ouvertures (110) transversantes. Quant à la seconde (102), elle est composée d'un matériau isolant acoustique. Le bord (104) de l'atténuateur acoustique peut comporter des motifs qui, soit se limitent à son bord, soit s'étendent sur toute sa surface. Par ailleurs, ledit atténuateur peut être fabriqué directement à partir d'un matériau isolant acoustique.
