The present invention relates to a method of upgrading a tank or a method which involves the assembly of an inner tank within an existing outer tank. In the method of the present invention, rolled panel sections are inserted through a hole of an existing outer tank. The rolled panel sections are adjacently positioned within the existing outer tank and expanded so as to conform to the shape of the existing outer tank. End cap sections either flat or domed depending on the shape of the outer tank are also installed through the hole. All of the seams (axial and transverse) are sealed so as to provide for an inner tank within the outer tank that can rate as a stand-alone tank. Circumferential ribs are installed and attached along a length of the inner tank so as to provide for a structural rigidity of the inner tank. With the method of the present invention it is not necessary to completely replace an existing tank and at the same time, if the outer tank has structural weaknesses, the tank can be strengthened by the formation of the inner tank utilizing the method of the present invention.
La présente invention porte sur une méthode pour améliorer un réservoir ou une méthode qui comporte l'assemblage d'un réservoir intérieur dans un réservoir extérieur existant. Dans la méthode de la présente invention, on introduit des panneaux en sections roulées par un trou dans un réservoir extérieur existant. Les panneaux en sections roulées sont placés côte à côte dans le réservoir extérieur existant et déployés de manière à adopter la forme du réservoir extérieur existant. On pose aussi, en les passant par le trou, des embouts plats ou bombés selon la forme du réservoir extérieur. On scelle tous les joints (axiaux et transversaux) pour obtenir un réservoir intérieur dans le réservoir extérieur qui réponde aux normes d'un réservoir monocoque. On pose des nervures circonférentielles qu'on fixe le long du réservoir intérieur dans le but de donner une rigidité structurale au réservoir intérieur. Avec la méthode de la présente invention, il n'est pas nécessaire de remplacer complètement un réservoir existant et, en même temps, si le réservoir extérieur a des faiblesses structurales, on peut le renforcer en formant le réservoir intérieur suivant la méthode de la présente invention.
