ABSTRACT A tank wagon is disclosed in which the tank has means (24,30) arranged to counteract movement of the material with respect to the tank in one direction and to pass the material in the opposite direction. In this way energy can be withdrawn from the fluid movement produced under braking thereby to mitigate adverse effects of such movement.In the embodiment described in detail the means are partitions having openings closed by hinged flaps gravity-urged to an open position.
