A B S T R A C T A tap connector for establishing and maintaining an electrical connection between electrical conductors. The connector has a body whereof the sides define a channel which slidably receives a laterally expandible wedge assembly. In use, the conductors are rigidly held between the body and the wedge assembly. To produce the required expansion, the wedge assembly is comprised of at least one driven block and at least one driving block which mate along respective opposed ramp surfaces. The ramp surfaces are inclined to the longitudinal axis of the channel. Relative longitudinal movement of the blocks causes the wedge assembly to expand and shrink as required.
