ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A tape cassette having a case and a rolled magnetic tape wound between a pair of reel hubs. The case is formed with tape feed paths extending from the winding portions through both ends of the case near its front portion to a front opening through which a magnetic head or the like is inserted. The case has a base portion and top and bottom plates covering the top and bottom surfaces of the base portion. The base portion is solid in the direction of thickness except the winding portions for the magnetic tape and the tape feed paths. The base portion has a front portion and a rear portion continuous with each other through a bridge portion defined between the winding por- tions. The base portion and the top and bottom plates are cut out at portions corresponding to the opening. The base portion is provided at the front side thereof with guides to guide the magnetic tape between the front surface of the base portion and the guides.
