In 1973, while at the Suncor plant, north of Fort MacMurray to get oil for our SOLID OIL COMPANY, the head chemist, Gus Galbraith and senior manager Jerry Tostawin alerted us to their huge tailings disposal problem. They suggested to us that we work on it and said samples would be sent down to Calgary. Tostawin said, "the cheque book is open if you can solve this problem". Since then the problem still exists. Mine has been the only cheque book open and I still have the only solution to the problem that works! Joe Kutasinski, my partner, died in September 22, 1979. I settled matters with his family in 1980. Since then I carried on alone. My patent attorney Robert MacRae, who was very helpful and protective, passed away in June 1992. Mr. Bill Howard of Calgary, the lawyer that formed our first company and partnership INTERNATIONAL FLUIDIZED SOLIDS is still my attorney, advisor, close confidant and best friend. Because of the magnitude of the problem, it is now 70-80 times larger in volume than when we began. I have aligned myself with a business associate that is interested and capable of making it all happen. RUST REMEDIAL SERVICES INC., WASTE MANAGEMENT INC..,(which will be referred to as RUST REMEDIAL herein) of Oak Brook Chicago Illinois has the capacity to make this happen now. I have held back from applying for patent protection as my patent attorney Bob MacRae, when we first went to see him in January 1974 said to wait until we could be on-site. Until that time work was done by contract as only one company then years later a second company joined us in the problem of solving this environmental disaster. Twenty years have gone by - still no known solution to the fine tailings problem. Our solution still works and has stood the test of time. To make it happen I still have to get on- site and be able to handle the volume. WASTE MANAGEMENT INC. controllers of RUST REMEDIAL want to enter into a business arrangement with me and would prefer that I begin the patent application now. WASTE MANAGEMENT INC. is the world's largest environmental service company. I could not ask for a better relationship. Together we can do the job. We are beginning now. This preparation of the original patent application is with the expectation that as development work proceeds, we are likely to be in a position to shift ground somewhat by way of supplementary disclosure or re-filing.
