ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A tarpaulin tie is in the form of a flat loop member having a large loop and a small loop, with a large bore in the large loop and a small bore in the small loop, the bores being connected by tapered neck tapering from a wide end of the large bore. A button has a body portion and a large flange at one end, the flange smaller than the large bore and larger than the small bore. The body portion is slightly smaller than the small bore. The loop member and button are positioned on either side of a tarpaulin, the button pushed up into the large bore with a flange above the loop. Lateral relative sliding pushes the body portion and tarpaulin through the neck into the small bore.
