ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: In a TDMA mobile communication network in which a mobile station (11) moves across radio zones at an initial state (1), a current channel through a first station (BASE A) of base stations is switched at the mobile station to a fresh channel through a second station (BASE B) during progress of communication between the mobile station and a mobile exchange station (41) by using two time slots in each TDMA frame for up and down communication signals, respectively, at an earlier state (5). At a later state (6), only one of the two time slots is used for the up and the down communication signals. Channel switching is possible between two mobile stations through the exchange station and at the exchange station rather than at the mobile station.
