Abstract of the Disclosure A tear resistant drum head assembly comprising a primary layer of contiguous synthetic material and a secondary layer of scored synthetic material secured within a rigid support member wherein, the primary layer is laminated to the secondary layer and the scoring pattern of the secondary layer comprises at least one penetrating cut through the thickness of the secondary layer material ; wherein, the secondary layer synthetic material resists tearing in a direction generally perpendicular to an edge of the material.
