The invention is directed to techniques for controlling access to an optical interface using film having windowed sections and non-windowed sections. The windowed and non-windowed sections are selectively positioned over an optical interface location that holds the optical interface in order to protect the optical interface. Preferably, such positioning occurs in an automated manner such that a technician need not perform an extensive cleaning step each time fiber optic equipment requires handling, e.g., each time a fiber optic connector of a fiber optic component is unplugged and re-plugged. In one arrangement, an optical connector housing holds the optical interface in an optical interface location of the optical connector housing, and a film positioning assembly selectively positions windowed and non-windowed sections of film over the optical interface location in order to selectively expose and protect the optical interface.
L'invention concerne des techniques servant à contrôler l'accès à une interface optique au moyen d'un film possédant des parties ajourées et non ajourées. Ces parties ajourées et non ajourées sont placées de façon sélective au dessus d'un emplacement d'interface optique maintenant cette dernière dans le but de la protéger. Ce positionnement s'effectue, de préférence, de façon automatique, de sorte qu'il n'est pas nécessaire pour le technicien de pratiquer une étape de nettoyage intensif chaque fois que l'équipement de la fibre optique requiert une manipulation, par exemple, chaque fois que le connecteur d'un composant de fibre optique est branché et débranché. Dans un mode de réalisation, un boîtier de connecteur optique maintient l'interface optique dans un emplacement du boîtier dudit connecteur optique et un ensemble de positionnement de film place de façon sélective les parties ajourées et non ajourées du film au dessus de cet emplacement d'interface optique, de manière à exposer et protéger cette interface optique de façon sélective.
