An ink delivery system which includes a short form factor ink jet pen having a supply of ink for depositing on an ink receiving medium. An adapter (50) is mounted to the short form factor pen to permit it to be removably mounted within a pen receptacle or stall dimensioned to receive a tall form factor pen. The ink jet cartridge (20) includes a housing (22), a printhead mounted on the housing, datum surfaces on the housing (22) for registering a position of the housing in a fixed, repeatable position in a first carriage structure, and a cartridge set of electrical contacts mounted to the cartridge housing and electrically coupled to the printhead. The cartridge set of electrical contacts is positioned on the housing (22) for electrical contact with a corresponding first carriage set of electrical contacts when the cartridge is mounted in the first carriage structure. The adapter structure is mounted to the cartridge housing to provide an assembly of the adapted structure and the cartridge, the assembly adapted for mounting in a second carriage structure configured to receive an ink jet cartridge of a different size in a fixed, repeatable position. The second carriage structure has a second carriage set of electrical contacts.
La présente invention concerne un système d'apport d'encre qui comprend un composant à jet d'encre de petite taille possédant une alimentation en encre en vue d'un dépôt sur un support de réception. La cartouche d'encre (20) comprend un boîtier (22), une tête d'impression montée sur ce logement, des surfaces de référence placées sur ce boîtier (22) de façon à enregistrer une position de ce logement dans une position fixe, reproductible dans une première structure de chariot, et un ensemble de contacts électriques de cartouche montés vers le logement de la cartouche et couplés électriquement avec la tête d'impression. Cet ensemble de contacts électriques de cette cartouche est positionné sur le boîtier (22) de façon à entrer en contact électrique avec un premier ensemble de contacts électriques de chariot lorsque cette cartouche est montée dans la première structure de chariot. La structure d'adaptateur est montée sur le boîtier de la cartouche de façon à offrir un assemblage de la structure d'adaptateur et du chariot, cet assemblage étant adapté pour être monté dans une seconde structure de chariot agencée de manière à recevoir une cartouche pour jet d'encre d'une taille différente dans une position fixe et reproductible. Cette seconde structure possède un second ensemble de contacts électriques de chariot.
