A system and method evaluates a patient for stress urinary incontinence. An involuntary reflex cough event is induced within the patient that activates the nucleus ambiguous and medial motor cell column of the patient and stimulates involuntary cough activated paraspinal muscles in the pelvis of the patient. And elecromyogram (EMG) is obtained from the involuntary cough activated paraspinal muscles and its duration determined. Any urine leakage time that occurs during the involuntary reflex cough event is identified and correlated within a processor together with the urine leakage time and EMG and duration of cough event to determine stress urinary incontinence.
L'invention porte sur un système et un procédé qui évaluent un patient pour une incontinence d'urine à l'effort. Un événement de toux réflexe involontaire est induit dans le patient qui active le noyau ambigu et la colonne médiale de cellules motrices du patient et stimule les muscles paraspinaux activés par la toux involontaire dans le pelvis du patient. Un électromyogramme (EMG) est obtenu à partir des muscles paraspinaux activés par toux involontaire et sa durée est déterminée. Tout temps de fuite d'urine qui se produit durant l'événement de toux réflexe involontaire est identifié et corrélé dans un processeur conjointement avec le temps de fuite d'urine et l'EMG et la durée de l'événement de toux pour déterminer une incontinence d'urine à l'effort.
